A Lone Leaf

•July 25, 2010 • 4 Comments

None of the branches had any leaves left,

Any last sign of life was long gone,

Lifeless, it stood out as stark as it could be,

The long dark winter had taken its toll.

…………………………………………………..

When everything seemed lost,

The spring suddenly arrived,

With the first rays of sunlight,

Like a miracle, the greens returned.

…………………………………………………..

And with the sun, not just colour returned,

But life replaced the lifelessness

Birds started chirping, there was hope,

The tree would bear fruit soon.

……………………………………………………

Tragedy isn’t far when, hope is near,

Just as suddenly, the sun vanished

The sunrays covered by the cloud

Hope killed before it could grow

……………………………………………………

The cold chill brought in by the cloud,

Wiped the green before the tree could bear,

Leaves fell like dominoes

All dried but one

……………………………………………………

The leaf, fluttered against the chilly wind,

The only semblance that hope wasn’t still killed

Sun was covered, but it would come out of the cloud

But till then, the leaf would fight the lone battle

…………………………………………………….

In all the pandemonium, it is just faith that’s left

Love isn’t momentary, it is life, cloud or not

Only when the faith is lost, do we lose it

It continues, sometimes through just a lone leaf

Keep it going

These days the days pass faster and so do the nights,
and this brings the day nearer,
and when the day comes and i leave,
remember the times that were great.

I will go miles away but I will think of you still.
You will remain with me.
You’ll stay there, you will.

I’ll never forget the times that we had.
The heartfelt discussions.
The good and the bad.

I’ll never forget the confusion,
the indecisiveness that was part of all that we did,
it was great that we never knew where we were going,
still we had something, who will doubt that.

Being with you is a part of the present.
but in my future it still be present,
nowadays, everything that i do ,
I do with the trepidity that it may be the last….

My day with her

•April 23, 2009 • 2 Comments

I open my eyes and there she is
Sleeping peacefully, blissfully unaware what’s happening elsewhere
I reach out and caress her hair, she gives a faint smile
Though still not opening her eyes.

Somehow I make myself get up and leave her side
Buttoning the shirt I smell the aroma of the breakfast wafting in through the door
We sit down and enjoy our breakfast
She kisses me goodbye

All day long, I m in a hurry to finish my work,
On the way to pick her up, a packet of chocolates is what I take
Nothing better than to see her smile when I give her this
There she is, standing at the corner, how beautiful she looks!

She tells me about her day while we make dinner
Sitting under the moon lit sky, we chat
Tomorrow’s day awaits us and so does the office, and it’s time we hit the bed
I hold her near and close my eyes, content on a happy day

I get up with a jerk, And she is not there
It’s a dream that I was living
She isn’t with me now, but she will be, one day.
And this dream will be true.

Are you a stranger…

Talked to you as a stranger,
on this journey u meet many,
But this was different,
Seemed we had something.

Don’t remember how this started,
didn’t even prepare for,
but am happy now that I met u,
with you it didn’t take me eons to share.

Confused is it for real
Is this destiny?
Why does it seem too good to be true,
Something inside asks me.

Bereft of this I still want to continue,
Journeys start with a lot of promise,
This one too did,
Want to make all those come true.

Together can make this smooth,
Nothing lasts forever,
Nor do strangers,
So take the chance, you will cherish it.

Keep driving,
The destination will come soon,
Keep going,
It will take us where we belong
